It's Looking a Lot Like...

The 1930s and 1970s were bad decades for U.S. stock market investors. Ditto for the 2000s.

Therefore, it's interesting to see that the market's rebound (as measured by the S&P 500 index) is looking similar to rebounds after those bad decades.

After steep initial rallies lasting about one year, the market treaded water for a time before eventually continuing on major bull runs.

Time Magazine cover from September 6, 1982 shows further parallels to today...a surging stock market but concerns over the economy, which included double-digit unemployment rate as well as double-digit interest rates and inflation.
